This collection represents the work of seven emerging artists working at the Kinngait Studios in Cape Dorset. What they have in common is their generation: the first generation to experience the growth and development of the modern community, while at the same time remaining firmly rooted in their cultural traditions. They each bring their own individual style and approach to their work, and a unique perspective on the intersection between cultural tradition and contemporary life in Cape Dorset, a perspective that differs significantly from that of their parents and grandparents.
