A member of the last generation to grow up on the land, Sheojuk Etidlooie (1932-1999), came to graphic art late and was an active artist in only the last six years of her life. Yet in that short time, she developed a large following and a very strong reputation. Her simple images have such universal appeal because they are at once both naïve and sophisticated, spontaneous and abstract. With an economy of line, she pared images down to their most basic forms and then used clear and bright colors to infuse them with spirit and whimsy.
